Description

High-Performance Bi-Metal Stalk Lug for Aluminium to Copper Connections

The CABAC Bi-Metal Stalk Lug 240mm² Cable BS240/16 is designed for dependable termination of stranded sector and circular stranded aluminium cables in demanding electrical installations. Built using a friction-welded construction that bonds 99.6% pure aluminium sleeves with 99.9% pure copper palms, this lug provides strong mechanical performance and excellent electrical conductivity where aluminium conductors connect to copper busbars or terminals.

Each barrel is pre-coated with jointing compound to improve conductivity and reduce oxidation at the connection point, helping electricians achieve consistent, low-resistance terminations. With a 240mm² conductor capacity, the lug is well suited to larger power distribution cables commonly found in commercial switchboards, industrial installations, and infrastructure projects.

Reliable Electrical Connection with Proven Compliance

CABAC bi-metal stalk lugs are manufactured to meet recognised international standards including AS/NZS4325 Part 1, ensuring they meet the compliance requirements expected on Australian worksites. The friction-welded joint between aluminium and copper provides a durable connection that maintains integrity under thermal cycling and heavy load conditions.

The materials used are fully annealed to improve ductility and crimp performance, allowing installers to achieve reliable compression using standard Australian crimp tooling. With an operating temperature range from 40°C to +125°C, these lugs are suitable for a wide variety of electrical environments, from indoor switchboards to exposed industrial applications.

By reducing galvanic corrosion risks between aluminium conductors and copper terminals, this bi-metal lug design supports long-term reliability and helps prevent connection failures that can lead to costly downtime or maintenance call-backs.

Trade-Ready Packaging and Easy Installation

Designed with electricians and contractors in mind, the CABAC BS240/16 bi-metal stalk lug is supplied individually packed in protective plastic bags to keep the jointing compound clean and ready for installation. The lug dimensions follow standard Australian specifications, ensuring compatibility with common tooling used across the trade.

Whether you’re working on commercial switchboards, industrial power distribution, or large-scale building installations, this lug helps streamline cable termination and maintain compliance with electrical standards.

Available through iSupply Electrical’s extensive trade-grade product range, it’s easy for contractors to source reliable components quickly—helping keep installations moving and projects on schedule.
