Description

High-Performance Bi-Metal Connection for Aluminium Cables

The CABAC Bi-Metal Stalk Lug BS185/18 is designed to deliver a reliable transition between aluminium conductors and copper terminations in demanding electrical installations. Engineered for stranded sector and circular stranded aluminium cable, this lug uses a friction-welded aluminium barrel and copper palm to ensure strong electrical conductivity and mechanical strength.

Manufactured from 99.6% pure aluminium and 99.9% pure copper, the lug maintains excellent conductivity while reducing the risk of galvanic corrosion when connecting dissimilar metals. The aluminium barrel comes pre-coated with jointing compound to help improve contact and protect the connection during installation.

With a fully annealed construction and friction-welded joint, electricians can expect consistent crimping performance and dependable long-term electrical contact on high-load installations.

Built for Compliance and Long-Term Reliability

The CABAC bi-metal stalk lug is built to meet international electrical standards, helping contractors maintain compliance on residential, commercial, and industrial projects. Manufactured to Australian dimensions, it is compatible with standard Australian crimping tooling, making installation straightforward on site.

The lug complies with multiple international standards including:

  • AS/NZS 4325 Part 1

  • IEC (France)

  • DIN/VDE (Germany)

  • JIS (Japan)

  • BS (United Kingdom)

With an operating temperature range of 40°C to +125°C, this lug performs reliably across harsh environmental conditions often encountered in switchboards, distribution equipment, and heavy-duty electrical infrastructure. High conductivity ratings ensure minimal resistance across the joint, supporting efficient current flow in demanding applications.

Trade-Ready Design for Faster Installations

CABAC bi-metal stalk lugs are designed with electricians in mind, helping reduce installation time and avoid connection issues on site. Each lug is individually packed in plastic bags, protecting the jointing compound and ensuring the connector is clean and ready for use when you open the pack.

Because the lugs follow standard Australian sizing, they can be installed using commonly available crimping tools without specialised equipment. This helps contractors move quickly on switchboard terminations, mains connections, and industrial cabling projects.

For electrical contractors managing tight deadlines, using a trusted brand like CABAC ensures dependable quality and consistent performance across installations—reducing the risk of call-backs or connection failures later.

Available through iSupply Electrical with competitive trade pricing and fast delivery, it’s a practical choice for electricians who need reliable cable terminations without delays.
