Description

Reliable Aluminium-to-Copper Termination Performance

The CABAC BL70-10 Bi-Metal Lug provides a secure and electrically sound termination for 70mm² stranded aluminium conductors, making it ideal for switchboards, distribution equipment, and power connections where aluminium cables need to connect to copper busbars or terminals.

Manufactured using 99.6% pure aluminium for the barrel and 99.9% pure copper for the palm, the lug is friction welded to create a strong, durable aluminium-to-copper transition. This process ensures excellent conductivity and eliminates the risk of electrolysis at the joint, helping maintain stable electrical performance over time. The lug barrel is pre-filled with jointing compound, designed to break through oxide layers in aluminium conductors during crimping. This improves conductivity and ensures a reliable connection that holds up under load in demanding electrical installations.

Built for Long-Term Reliability and Standards Compliance

Designed for professional installations, CABAC bi-metal lugs are engineered to meet the compliance expectations of Australian electrical work. The barrel is chemically treated to reduce corrosion and contact resistance, helping extend the life of connections in commercial, industrial, and infrastructure environments.

The product is manufactured in accordance with multiple international and regional standards including AS/NZS4325 Part 1, as well as IEC, DIN/VDE, JIS, and BS standards. This ensures dependable performance across a wide range of electrical systems and installation environments. With an operating temperature range of -40°C to 100°C, the lug is suitable for installations exposed to varied environmental conditions while maintaining electrical integrity and connection reliability.

Trade-Friendly Installation for Fast On-Site Work

The CABAC BL70-10 lug is designed with trade convenience in mind, allowing electricians to install quickly using standard Australian aluminium hexagonal crimp dies. Tooling is interchangeable with CABAC, Utilux, and Burndy systems, making it easy to integrate into existing toolkits without requiring specialised equipment.

For best results, the lug should be crimped from the palm end first, pushing the jointing compound through the conductor strands to ensure optimal contact and conductivity. This simple installation process helps reduce installation time and ensures consistent results across multiple connections on switchboards, meter panels, and distribution equipment.

For contractors managing tight project timelines, the CABAC bi-metal lug delivers reliable terminations, consistent performance, and straightforward installation, helping keep jobs moving without connection failures or rework.
