Description

High-Performance Reverse Bi-Metal Lug for Aluminium to Copper Connections

The CABAC Reverse Bi-Metal Lug RBL240-12 is designed for reliable termination of large conductors where aluminium and copper connections are required. Unlike standard bi-metal lugs, this reverse bi-metal lug features an aluminium palm and copper barrel, making it ideal for specific installation requirements where aluminium contact surfaces are preferred.

Manufactured using 99.6% pure aluminium and 99.9% pure copper, the lug components are permanently joined using a friction welding process that creates a strong electrical and mechanical bond. This method ensures excellent conductivity while eliminating the risk of electrolysis between dissimilar metals.

The barrel is chemically treated and pre-filled with jointing compound to help break oxide layers during crimping. This improves contact performance and reduces resistance, helping electricians achieve secure terminations that perform reliably in demanding electrical installations.

Built for Reliability and International Compliance

For contractors working on projects where compliance and durability matter, the CABAC reverse bi-metal lug is built to meet internationally recognised standards. The friction-welded joint ensures a stable electrical connection that withstands both mechanical stress and electrical load over time.

The materials are fully annealed, providing the necessary ductility for effective crimping while maintaining mechanical strength. With an operating temperature range of 40°C to +100°C, the lug performs reliably across a wide range of environmental conditions, making it suitable for both indoor switchboard installations and demanding industrial applications.

Compliance with AS/NZS 4325 Part 1, as well as international standards including IEC, DIN/VDE, JIS, and BS, provides confidence that the component meets recognised electrical performance and safety benchmarks required across Australian electrical installations.

Trade-Ready Design for Faster Installations

Designed with working electricians in mind, the CABAC RBL240-12 lug integrates smoothly into existing installation workflows. It is compatible with standard Australian crimping tooling and dies, allowing contractors to use commonly available tools without needing specialised equipment.

Tooling interchangeability between CABAC, Utilux, and Burndy further simplifies procurement and reduces downtime on site. Electricians can confidently install the lug using familiar tools and processes, helping keep projects moving without unnecessary delays.

For contractors managing tight schedules or multiple job sites, using a trusted product like the CABAC reverse bi-metal lug ensures consistent terminations, reliable performance, and fewer call-backs—keeping installations efficient and compliant.
