Description
Built for Reliable High-Current Cable Connections
The CABAC Reverse Bi-Metal Lug 185mm² is designed to provide dependable electrical connections where aluminium and copper conductors need to interface safely. Unlike standard bi-metal lugs, this reverse configuration features an aluminium palm and copper barrel, making it suitable for specialised connection requirements in switchboards, distribution equipment, and industrial installations.
Manufactured from 99.6% aluminium and 99.9% copper, the materials are friction welded to create a strong electrical and mechanical bond. This process ensures consistent conductivity and durability, helping electricians maintain reliable terminations on high-current circuits without the risk of poor contact between dissimilar metals.
With a 185mm² conductor capacity and 12mm stud size, this lug provides a secure connection point for larger conductors commonly used in commercial and industrial power distribution.
Engineered for Compliance and Long-Term Reliability
Electrical terminations must remain stable over time, particularly in demanding environments. The CABAC Reverse Bi-Metal Lug is friction welded to IEC standards, producing a solid joint that is not susceptible to electrolysis between the copper and aluminium components.
To further enhance connection reliability, the barrel is chemically treated to minimise contact resistance and corrosion. Each lug is also pre-filled with jointing compound, helping break through oxide layers on aluminium conductors during crimping. This improves long-term conductivity and reduces the risk of overheating or connection failure.
The lug is manufactured to meet internationally recognised standards including AS/NZS4325 Part 1, IEC, DIN/VDE, JIS, and BS, providing confidence that the component meets strict electrical and mechanical performance requirements used across professional installations.
Designed for Fast Installation with Standard Trade Tooling
For electricians working under tight project timelines, installation efficiency matters. The CABAC Reverse Bi-Metal Lug is designed to be crimped using standard Australian tooling and dies, reducing setup time on site and eliminating the need for specialised equipment.
Tooling compatibility across CABAC, Utilux, and Burndy systems makes it easy to integrate into existing toolkits used by electrical contractors and maintenance teams. This helps streamline installation workflows, particularly when handling multiple terminations during switchboard builds, upgrades, or industrial maintenance work.
Sourced through trusted electrical wholesalers, products like this allow contractors to maintain compliance, minimise downtime, and complete installations with confidenceâwhether on commercial fit-outs, infrastructure upgrades, or heavy-duty electrical systems.
