Description

Efficient Copper-to-Aluminium Terminations for Heavy Cables

The CABAC Reverse Bi-Metal Lug 150mm² M12 (RBL150-12) is designed for reliable termination of large conductors where copper and aluminium connections meet. Unlike standard bi-metal lugs, this reverse design features an aluminium palm and copper barrel, making it suitable for applications where the conductor requires a copper barrel but the termination surface benefits from aluminium compatibility.

Manufactured from 99.6% aluminium and 99.9% copper, the lug delivers strong electrical conductivity and mechanical durability across demanding installations. The friction-welded joint ensures a solid electrical bond between metals, maintaining current flow while reducing the risk of separation or degradation under load.

For electricians working with 150mm² conductors, this lug provides a dependable solution for high-current connections commonly found in switchboards, distribution equipment, and heavy-duty electrical infrastructure.

Built for Compliance, Corrosion Protection & Long-Term Reliability

CABAC’s reverse bi-metal lugs are engineered to perform reliably in challenging environments while meeting recognised international standards. The friction welding process creates a stable joint between aluminium and copper that is not susceptible to electrolysis, helping maintain electrical integrity over time.

The chemically treated barrel reduces contact resistance and improves corrosion resistance, while the pre-filled jointing compound helps break oxide layers on aluminium conductors during crimping. This improves conductivity and ensures a secure connection once installed.

With an operating temperature range from –40°C to +100°C, the lug is suitable for a wide range of electrical environments including industrial installations and commercial switchboards. Compliance with AS/NZS4325 Part 1, IEC, DIN/VDE, JIS, and BS standards gives contractors confidence when specifying components for compliant electrical work.

Trade-Ready Design for Faster Installation on Site

When time matters on site, electricians need components that install quickly using standard tools. The CABAC RBL150-12 reverse bi-metal lug is designed to be crimped with standard Australian tooling and dies, making it compatible with widely used crimping equipment already in most electrical kits.

Tooling compatibility with CABAC, Utilux, and Burndy systems further simplifies installation across different job sites and contractor setups. This means less downtime searching for specialty tools and more efficient cable termination during switchboard builds, infrastructure upgrades, or industrial maintenance work.

For contractors managing tight project timelines, choosing proven trade-grade components helps keep installations moving without unnecessary delays.
