Description

Reliable Bi-Metal Termination for 240mm² 4-Core Sector Aluminium Cables

The CABAC Bi-Metal Lug BLSC240/4-12 is purpose-built for terminating 240mm² four-core solid sector aluminium conductors, commonly used in underground residential distribution (URD) and heavy-duty electrical infrastructure. Designed with a sector-shaped internal barrel and round external profile, it allows electricians to use conventional hex crimp dies instead of specialised nest and indent tooling.

This practical design simplifies installation on site while ensuring a secure mechanical and electrical connection between aluminium conductors and copper terminations. For contractors working on distribution boards, switchboards, or supply connections, it provides a dependable solution that keeps installations compliant and efficient.

High-Integrity Bi-Metal Construction for Long-Term Reliability

Built with a 99.6% pure aluminium sleeve and a 99.95% pure copper palm, the lug provides excellent conductivity while preventing galvanic corrosion between aluminium cables and copper equipment. The aluminium and copper sections are friction welded to IEC standards, producing a strong, durable joint designed for demanding electrical environments.

The fully annealed metal construction offers strong ductility and reliable crimp performance, helping electricians achieve consistent terminations across large conductors. With an operating temperature range of -40°C to 125°C, the lug is suited to installations exposed to varying environmental conditions across residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects.

Trade-Ready Design That Saves Time on Site

The round barrel format means standard hex dies can be used, eliminating the need for specialised crimp tooling and helping contractors complete terminations faster. This is particularly valuable on large projects where multiple heavy-duty cable terminations are required.

Compliant with recognised international standards including AS/NZS 4325 Part 1, IEC, DIN/VDE, JIS, and BS, the lug provides peace of mind for electricians who need components that meet strict compliance requirements.

For contractors managing tight project schedules, using quality termination hardware like the CABAC BLSC240/4-12 helps reduce installation issues, avoid rework, and keep jobs moving efficiently.
