The CABAC BL500 Bi-Metal Lug is designed to deliver reliable electrical performance when terminating large aluminium conductors to copper equipment. Manufactured from 99.6% pure aluminium (barrel) and 99.9% pure copper (palm), the lug is joined using a friction welding process that produces a strong, electrically sound bond between the two metals. The aluminium barrel is chemically treated and pre-filled with jointing compound, helping break down oxide layers on aluminium conductors during crimping. This reduces contact resistance and improves conductivity, ensuring stable connections even in demanding electrical installations. When crimped from the palm end first, the compound is forced into the conductor strands, improving contact quality and ensuring optimal electrical transfer across the connection.

CABAC bi-metal lugs are engineered for installations where long-term reliability and compliance with international standards are essential. The friction-welded joint prevents electrolysis between aluminium and copper, reducing the risk of connection failure over time. The lug is fully annealed, providing excellent ductility and mechanical strength while maintaining consistent conductivity. With a tensile strength of 110 MPa and ductile rating of 28%, the connector is built to handle the mechanical stresses associated with heavy-duty cable terminations. These lugs are compliant with major international standards including AS/NZS4325 Part 1, IEC, DIN/VDE, JIS, and BS, giving electricians confidence that the product meets recognised performance and safety requirements for professional installations.
