Description
High-Performance Bi-Metal Lug for Aluminium to Copper Connections
The CABAC BL300-10 Bi-Metal Lug is designed to provide a strong, low-resistance termination when connecting large aluminium conductors to copper busbars or equipment terminals. Manufactured using 99.6% aluminium and 99.9% copper, the lug is joined using a friction welding process, creating a durable electrical bond that maintains conductivity and mechanical strength.
The aluminium barrel is chemically treated to reduce contact resistance and corrosion while being pre-filled with jointing compound that breaks oxide layers on aluminium conductors during crimping. When crimped from the palm end first, the compound is forced through the conductor strands to ensure a reliable connection and consistent electrical performance on demanding installations.
For electricians handling high-capacity circuits, switchboards, or heavy-duty distribution work, this lug provides dependable conductivity and secure termination for 300mm² aluminium conductors.
Reliable Construction with Trusted Standards Compliance
Built for long-term reliability, CABAC bi-metal lugs are engineered to minimise electrolysis when joining dissimilar metals. The friction-welded aluminium-to-copper joint creates a strong electrical interface that withstands demanding environments often found in industrial, commercial, and infrastructure installations. The lug is fully annealed, ensuring ductility and strength during installation, while the treated aluminium barrel reduces corrosion risk and maintains electrical contact quality over time. CABAC lugs are manufactured in accordance with recognised international and regional standards, helping electricians maintain compliance across projects that require certified components.
Standards and compliance include:
-
AS/NZS 4325 Part 1
-
IEC (France)
-
DIN/VDE (Germany)
-
JIS (Japan)
-
BS (United Kingdom)
With an operating temperature range of -40°C to 100°C, the BL300-10 is suitable for a wide range of electrical environments.
Trade-Ready Termination for Faster Installations
Designed for practical on-site installation, the BL300-10 is compatible with standard Australian aluminium hexagonal crimp dies and tooling commonly used by electricians. Tooling compatibility across CABAC, Utilux, and Burndy systems helps reduce delays and avoids the need for specialised tools on site. The lug is engineered for stranded sector and circular stranded aluminium conductors, making it a reliable option for switchboard work, distribution systems, and heavy-duty electrical infrastructure. For contractors managing multiple projects and tight schedules, having dependable termination components like the CABAC BL300-10 ensures faster installs, reduced rework, and consistent results across large conductor terminations.
