Description

Reliable Termination for Aluminium Conductors

The CABAC BL240-12 Bi-Metal Lug is designed to provide a secure and efficient connection when terminating 240mm² stranded sector or circular aluminium conductors. Built with a high-purity aluminium barrel and copper palm, this lug ensures excellent electrical performance while allowing aluminium cables to be safely connected to copper busbars and equipment.

The aluminium barrel is chemically treated and pre-filled with jointing compound, helping break through oxide layers during crimping to improve conductivity and reduce contact resistance. For best results, electricians should crimp from the palm end first, forcing the compound deep into the conductor strands and creating a strong, low-resistance connection that holds up under demanding load conditions. Designed for professional installations, the BL240-12 provides a dependable solution for switchboards, distribution systems, and large cable terminations where reliable aluminium-to-copper connections are critical.

Built for Long-Term Performance and Compliance

Manufactured from 99.6% pure aluminium and 99.9% pure copper, CABAC bi-metal lugs are joined using a friction welding process that forms a highly durable bond between the two metals. This method creates a strong, electrically sound joint that helps prevent electrolysis between dissimilar metals. The fully annealed construction provides good ductility for secure crimping while maintaining high tensile strength. These lugs are engineered to perform across a wide temperature range and maintain stable conductivity in demanding electrical environments.

Compliance with AS/NZS4325 Part 1 and international standards including IEC, DIN/VDE, JIS, and BS ensures the product meets the reliability expectations required for commercial, industrial, and infrastructure installations across Australia.

Trade-Ready Compatibility for Fast Installations

The BL240-12 lug is designed for use with standard Australian crimping tools using aluminium hexagonal dies, making it easy to integrate into existing tooling setups on site. Tooling is interchangeable between CABAC, Utilux, and Burndy systems, helping electricians work efficiently without needing specialised equipment.

For busy contractors managing multiple projects, reliable components like CABAC lugs reduce installation issues, minimise call-backs, and keep projects moving. With trusted brand quality and easy compatibility with common tooling, these lugs provide a straightforward termination solution that supports smooth installations from switchboard assembly to large power distribution works.

Available through iSupply Electrical with fast dispatch and trade-focused service, it’s a dependable component to keep stocked for demanding electrical jobs.
