Description

Reliable Bi-Metal Lug Performance for Aluminium Conductors

The CABAC BL240-10 Bi-Metal Lug is engineered to deliver a dependable electrical connection when terminating 240mm² aluminium conductors to copper busbars or equipment terminals. Built using 99.6% aluminium and 99.9% copper, the lug combines excellent conductivity with strong mechanical performance for demanding installations. A friction-welded copper palm and aluminium barrel creates a solid, electrically sound bond that resists separation under load while preventing electrolysis between dissimilar metals. The barrel is pre-filled with jointing compound that breaks down oxide layers during crimping, ensuring optimal contact and improved current flow through the conductor. For best results on site, the lug should be crimped from the palm end first, allowing the compound to distribute through the conductor strands and produce a secure, low-resistance termination.

Built for Compliance and Long-Term Electrical Reliability

Designed for professional installations, the CABAC bi-metal lug supports projects that demand reliable connections and standards compliance across residential, commercial, and industrial systems. The aluminium barrel is chemically treated to reduce corrosion and contact resistance, helping maintain performance in harsh environments and long service conditions. The fully annealed metal construction also improves ductility, allowing for clean crimping without compromising conductor integrity.

The CABAC BL240-10 is manufactured in line with recognised international and Australian standards including AS/NZS4325 Part 1, helping electricians meet compliance requirements on switchboard, distribution, and infrastructure projects. When paired with standard aluminium hexagonal dies, the lug works with common Australian tooling, allowing seamless integration with existing crimping equipment used across the trade.

Trade-Ready Design for Faster Installation on Site

Electricians and contractors need termination hardware that installs quickly and performs reliably. The CABAC BL240-10 is designed to fit smoothly into standard trade workflows, reducing installation time and eliminating compatibility issues. The lug is compatible with standard Australian crimping tooling, with interchangeable tooling between CABAC, Utilux, and Burndy, making it easy to use with the equipment already in your kit. This simplifies procurement and ensures crews can complete terminations without hunting for specialty tools.

For contractors managing tight project schedules, reliable connection components help avoid call-backs, minimise downtime, and keep switchboard and distribution work moving on schedule.
